Newspapers, Empty Houses, and Open Doors

From our front porch we just saw the newspaper man throw a copy of the weekly Rusk County News in our front yard. It's one of those non-subscription papers that get thrown into every yard or driveway. First with one hand, then another, the man in his little pickup truck tries to get a paper to everyone….. so that everyone gets the news….. and its advertisers find the right buyers.

Maybe that is the same way you are trying to live your life. Do you find yourself going down the hallway of life, being sure not to miss any open doors? Perhaps you are one of those people who, when you find an open door, you assume God opened it, so you go through it, and then you pray to God, "please bless what I am doing."

The word teaches us to always ask God first, then step out in faith. Somehow we have gotten the order reversed, and we end up in situations we were never intended to be….we've gone through the wrong door.

Please remember, just like that newspaper man throws a lot of papers to empty houses….. a lot of the open doors in your life are not for you…….and are not being opened by God. Before you take that step of faith, seek God's guidance and wait for His answer.
